Just realised I'm not very good at blogging! I am going to make a big effort to post more often!
Silly season is coming , so for Kampung Club that means Halloween and Christmas. We have lots of new costumes including our pretty witch in hot pink and black, long tutus for those budding ballerinas and lots of other cute frilly dresses.
I'm already taking more orders for school dress up costumes and have vowed this year to try not to deliver them the day before they're needed. Watch this space for photos as we have got a big photoshoot coming and then hopefully the launch of the new website!

Dress up days!

Why do schools have so many dress up days now? And why do they come all at once! Vikings, Egyptians, Tudors and Victorians and not to mention school productions and assemblies.

It's fun making the costumes but I do believe Vikings never wore those helmets with horns!

I'm happy to try most costumes for those desperate mothers without sewing machines!

Isn't it interesting how different cultures see the concept of "dress-up"? For me as a child an old net curtain and a pair of my mum's high heels could turn me into a princess or a bride for hours of role playing. Here in Malaysia our selection of tails and ears has a lot of Malaysians very confused; what's it for? how do you wear it? what do you wear with it? or just plain what is it?

While I was restocking our Halloween promotion at Bangsar Village 1 today with our new black cat tails and ears I had to tell the tale so many times to confused passers-by. Really it's whatever you want it to be and you can wear it however you like but for people who would like more definition we have tigers, leopards, dalmations, dinosaurs and black cats!

Busy, busy, busy! Yes, it's Halloween month again which means our machines are red hot! This year we are stocking even more shops with our costumes for the spooky season. We are looking forward to another successful promotion in conjunction with Allison's Place at Bangsar Village 1 the week before Halloween as well as a short promotion at Bangsar Shopping Centre. This year we have focussed on easy to wear costumes and therefore we have a wide range of capes in lots of colours. One size fits all and tey all retail for Rm50. We are also excited to launch our Halloween drawstring goody bags which offer an alternative to the plastic pumpkins which are difficult to store for the rest of the year (our bags also hold a lot more candy!)

Feeling guilty for not updating this blogspot, so thought I'd write a couple of lines about what's happening! Victorian Day is coming up at Alice Smith School so we're doing a batch of costumes for anyone who is in a panic! Full costume Rm120, mop cap on it's own only Rm20.

We are also working on a new design for sarongs for little girls which include their own little bag with our newly dressed kampung girl!

Busy, busy, busy! Why does it all come at once and I'm never ahead of the game? Reminder for next year: Halloween starts in March and Christmas April. That way we have enough stock produced before someone asks me for Christmas concert /Egytian day/Greek day/Tudor day costumes!

Next week we will be at the American Xmas Bazaar at the new Royale Chulan Hotel on Jalan Conlay and for the next two weeks we will be taking part in the Christmas Promo on the ground floor of Bangsar Village with Allison's Place. So get down there quick while stocks last! Christmas fairies are quickly fluttering away! Of course if you'd like a nice cup coffee and piece of cake while you shop come along to our Thursday open house at Mutiara Seputeh:)

Well, that's Halloween over! Phew! What a busy one we had this year, it seems Malaysia went Halloween crazy! I'm not complaining as it was great for business. Thanks go to Allison's Place who ran the promo at Bangsar Village where we did a record number of sales on our costumes.
We are now gearing up for Christmas and are attending most of the Charity Christmas Bazaars including ABWM, MANZA, AAM and Alice Smith.
Our weekly open house is also in full swing in Mutiara Seputeh where we have our specials including half price baby bedding and half price shoes if you buy a tutu, fairy or princess dress. A bargain for Christmas presents!

Well Kampung Club is definitely back to the grindstone after the summer holidays. Our sewing machines are red hot as we produce new designs for Halloween and Christmas. We are working on red devils and baby pumpkins to add to our other scary favourites and have ballet shoes now to match our tutus in 3 colours.
After the Hari Raya holiday we look forward to stocking a couple of new shops in KL (more news later about them) and our weekly open houses will also be starting up again with Sally's cheesecake of course!
We will also be taking part in a Halloween promotion at BV outside the Village Grocer with 'Alison's Place'. So everyone can get what they need and if you can't find what you want just e mail me on info@kampungclub.com and I'll get it to you FOC!

Summer holidays are nearly over and we're eagerly awaiting the shipment of new stock for Halloween and Christmas. The problem is all the sequin shoes get spoken for before they even get here! Looking forward to getting stock of the ballet shoes to go with the tutus though, they should be really cute. We now have three types of tails in stock tigers, dalmations and dinosaurs.

Well, a very quiet open house yesterday after the H1N1 virus affected the school! But a chance to meet with some very talented entrepreneur mums! I never realised how big the whole cyberspace thing was! Looking forward to a break in the UK before the busy run up to halloween and christmas.

Only June and we're already thinking of Halloween and Christmas! Testing out new designs for bats, wizards and Count Dracula. We are also stocking up on all the old favourites; fairies, princesses, mermaids and of course pretty witches.

We are looking forward to our end of term open house next week as it's going to be a 'big' one! We have invited several other small businesses to sell their wares. These include Silverplus silver jewellery, Frangipani Designs which make beautiful passport wallets, Estelle's Glass with her jewellery range and dishes, CharlieLewis which stocks the amazing apple slinky and has funky named kids towels and hopefully a couple of others.

As usual we will be serving delicious homemade cakes, cookies and coffee.
